Terms of Use
Effective and last updated: September 19, 2026
These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) govern the use of the iOS application PlantMoment (the “App”) provided by the developer of PlantMoment (the “Developer”). By downloading or using the App, the user agrees to these Terms.
1. Purpose of the App
The App provides features for registering plants, managing care schedules and history, receiving local notifications, keeping photo and video records, creating Photo Moments, Video Moments, and Plant Stories, and creating and restoring backups.
Care schedules, plant information, and possible plant species shown by the App are general guidance and reference information intended to help the user check the actual condition of a plant.
2. Basic and Pro
The App offers Basic and Pro plans.
- Basic limits the number of registered plants and certain other features.
- Pro removes the plant registration limit and provides features including plant identification from photos, custom care items, advanced care intervals, bulk care logging, and advanced Photo Moment customization.
- Pro is available through either a lifetime purchase or a monthly subscription. Both purchase options provide the same Pro features.
The latest descriptions shown in the App govern the features and limitations currently available.
3. Lifetime Purchase
The lifetime purchase is a non-consumable in-app purchase that provides continuing access to the Pro features offered by the App in exchange for a one-time payment.
Purchase entitlement is managed through the App Store purchase history and the Apple Account used for the purchase. After reinstalling the App or changing devices, the user may need to use Restore Purchases.
4. Monthly Subscription
The monthly subscription automatically renews each month.
- Payment is charged to the Apple Account when the purchase is confirmed.
- The subscription automatically renews for the same period unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- The renewal charge is billed to the Apple Account within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- The subscription and auto-renewal can be managed in the Apple Account subscription settings after purchase.
- If auto-renewal is turned off, Pro remains available until the end of the paid period.
Prices may vary by country or region, currency, and changes made by Apple. The price shown in the App Store purchase confirmation before purchase applies.
5. Restore Purchases, Refunds, and Purchase Status
The user can use Restore Purchases in the App to recover an active purchase entitlement associated with the same Apple Account. Restoring a purchase does not create an additional charge.
Purchases, billing, refunds, subscription management, and purchase status in the App Store are governed by Apple’s terms and procedures. The Developer cannot directly process payments or refunds handled by Apple.
If Pro entitlement expires or is revoked due to subscription expiration, a refund, a reversal, or another reason, the App does not automatically delete saved plants, records, or completed works. However, the App may restrict adding new plants and starting new uses of Pro features.
6. Plant Identification from Photos
Plant identification from photos is an assistive feature that uses an image recognition service to present possible plant species. The accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and fitness of the results for a particular purpose are not guaranteed. The user is responsible for reviewing the candidates and confidence scores and determining the identity of a plant.
Do not use an identification result as the sole basis for decisions involving life, health, property, or other important rights, including:
- Whether a plant is edible
- Toxicity or allergies
- Medical, health, or safety decisions
- Safety for children or animals
- Use of pesticides, fertilizers, or other chemicals
- Legal treatment of rare, invasive, or otherwise regulated species
Consult a qualified professional, public authority, or reliable source when appropriate.
7. Care Schedules and Notifications
Care schedules and notifications are guidance based on settings entered by the user. Appropriate care varies with the actual condition, species, season, climate, location, soil, and other circumstances of each plant.
Notifications may not be delivered as scheduled due to device settings, operating system behavior, power-saving features, time or time-zone changes, or other circumstances. The user is responsible for checking the actual condition of a plant before providing care.
8. Backups and Data Management
The App does not provide automatic synchronization between devices or automatic backup to a cloud service managed by the Developer. The user should use the App’s backup feature to create backup files as often as necessary and store them in a safe location.
The App does not apply its own encryption to backup files. The user is responsible for access permissions, sharing, copying, loss, and deletion of backups at the selected storage location.
A restore replaces the current data on the device as described on the confirmation screen. Changes made after an older backup was created are not recovered by restoring that backup. The Developer does not guarantee that all data loss or corruption caused by device failure, the operating system, insufficient storage, user actions, external services, or other circumstances can be prevented or recovered.
9. External Services
The App uses external services including Apple, RevenueCat, Firebase, and Pl@ntNet. The suspension, modification, or discontinuation of an external service may change or make some App features unavailable.
10. Changes, Suspension, and Discontinuation
The Developer may change, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the App for quality improvement, security, legal compliance, changes to external services, or similar reasons. Purchased products are handled in accordance with applicable law, Apple’s terms, and the conditions presented at the time of purchase.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties and Limitation of Liability
The App is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. The Developer does not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free, operate on every device, prevent data loss, provide accurate plant information or identification results, or be suitable for a particular purpose.
Except in cases of willful misconduct or gross negligence by the Developer, or where liability cannot be limited under applicable law, the Developer is not liable for indirect, special, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost profits or data loss, arising from use of or inability to use the App.
Nothing in this section limits rights that cannot be limited under applicable consumer protection or other laws.
12. Privacy
For information about the handling of user information, see the PlantMoment Privacy Policy.
13. Apple Standard EULA
For matters concerning the license to use the App that are not addressed by these Terms, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (Standard EULA) applies. If these Terms conflict with the Standard EULA, applicable law and Apple’s terms govern.
14. Changes to These Terms
The Developer may update these Terms in response to changes in law, the App, or external services. Material changes will be communicated by reasonable means, such as through the App, the App Store listing, or this page. Updated Terms take effect when posted on this page or on another date specified by the Developer.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan.
